Dr. Ronald Otterstetter, an associate professor in the School of Sport Science and Wellness Education, has been named a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). He will be honored at the organization’s annual meeting in May in San Diego.

Dr. Ronald Otterstetter
The fellowship program recognizes professional achievement and competence in the related disciplines of sports medicine through education, published works and professional practice, as well as a demonstrated interest in, and/or contributions to the goals of sports medicine.
Otterstetter, who joined UA in 2004, also is a Fellow in the Institute for Life-Span Development and Gerontology. A member of ACSM since 1992, he advanced to the fellowship through the research path. He has been a speaker and presenter at ACSM regional and national conferences, and published numerous articles related to exercise physiology.
“This is just a stepping stone to greater opportunities for me and our students,” says Otterstetter. “The fellowship will allow me to work with individuals who are nationally recognized in a number of specialties and collaborate with them on future research projects.”
The 50,000 members of ACSM represent a wide range of professions focused on exercise science, including physicians, scientists and clinicians. Only 1,500 members are fellows.
