Living-Learning Communities
Living-Learning Communities connect academics with residence life by grouping students with shared interests. Benefits include:
- Specific academic requirements
- Close interaction with faculty/staff both inside and outside the classroom
- Application requirements
- Resident assistants or peer mentors providing relevant programs

Students share a common academic or special interest. Resident assistants will offer programs aligned with the community's theme.

How can I participate in a Specialized Community?
- Complete your Housing and Dining contract by clicking on My Housing in My Akron
- Complete the application associated with the Specialized Community of your choice
- If space is available, the housing office will assign you a room in your preferred community. However, students in the Honors Complex and Honors Cluster have the privilege of selecting their own rooms. If space becomes limited, you will be placed with general housing and given the opportunity to choose your own room.
